Caitlin and Liam’s wedding took place at GG’s Yard in Dumfries & Galloway, a beautiful venue nestled on a hill with a sweeping view over Fleet Bay. And what a lovely wedding it was! Mist settled around us in the morning and afternoon but the gorgeous view revealed itself later in the day.
Caitlin got ready with her friends and family in a room upstairs from the ceremony space, where skylights let in lots of natural light. An abundance of light is what we love! We captured all the details, including Caitlin’s gorgeous Sottero and Midgley dress, and all the smiles and laughter before guests started to arrive. A bagpiper braved the mist outside and played Scottish favourites as the arriving guests made their way inside and found their seats. Thistles nestled into the foliage on chairs that lined the aisle were a lovely Scottish touch, as well as in the bouquets. Gorgeous arrangements by Belles and Thistles!

Before long, it was time for the ceremony to begin! Liam looked relaxed beforehand and was beaming as Caitlin came down the aisle towards him. After their vows, the couple took part in a hand fasting ceremony with tartan of both their clans – a sweet personal touch! They also introduced to another Scottish tradition of drinking in turn from a quaich, AKA a love cup. The newlyweds were led down the aisle to bagpipes and with that the celebrations began!
Guests milled about the lovely warm reception space while we brought Caitlin and Liam outside to get some shots of them by themselves. GG’s Yard is a fabulous wedding venue because everything takes place in their beautiful and versatile space. They also have lots of little nooks in their garden for some bridal portraits, and we can’t forget the view!
Siobhan was photographing as Siobhan Amy Photography, and it’s always fun to work side by side as photo and video for a change! As the mist returned and brought a chill, guests gathered round the fire pit outside, under some pretty festoon lights.

As we captured guests mingling, we were treated to some fab music by Ginny & The Tonic, based in Glasgow. Once the speeches were given, and a delicious wedding breakfast, it was time to hit the dance floor. But not for everyone’s trademark moves yet…because first up, was a ceilidh! GG’s Yard had plenty of space for this which was great, and it meant we could get some wonderful footage of everyone. We love ceilidhs because whether you’re a pro or a novice, you’re guaranteed to have fun trying to keep up!
Sending a big congratulations to Caitlin and Liam! Many thanks to them for choosing us to capture their day, despite the many miles between us!
