FAQ
How far do you travel?
We love to travel! As we’re based in Bristol, any wedding within 100 miles is included in the price. Beyond 100 miles or more than 2 hours of driving, we charge a either a travel fee or possible accommodation. For international destinations, travel and accommodation charges will apply. Rates vary with each location, so get in touch for a specific quote.
Who is your ideal couple?
We LOVE couples who are unique, adventurous, and crazy about each other. And if you’re up for a big of hiking or doing something crazy for the perfect shot, even better! ๐ If you love our films and the moments we capture, let us know your favourites – We want to know why you’d love a film of your special day!
How do we book?
A 50% non refundable booking fee is required to secure your date, along with a signed contract. The remaining balance is due no later than 1 month before the wedding date. We also offer payment plans – so let us know if you’re interested and we can give you more details!
Can we have a consultation or meeting before we book?
Of course! We can meet anywhere in Bristol, 9am -7pm Monday to Friday. For anyone who lives further afield, we can offer Skype meetings or over the telephone. Please email us at hello@mcgillsisterfilms.com to arrange!
How long will it take to receive the completed film?
Your highlight film will be ready in 6 weeks and your longer 20-30min film will be ready in 9 weeks. During the summer months, this can vary and make take a little longer, but you will be kept in up to date on our progress.
What equipment do you use?
We use the Canon Mark IV and III DSLRs with a range of lenses and external audio recorders.
How will you coordinate with the photographer?
We like to get in touch with your photographer beforehand to introduce ourselves and they can get familiar with our style. As one half of us is a photographer, we aim to work together with your own photographer so we can both get amazing images and footage!
Are we micโd for the ceremony?
During the ceremony, we mic up the groom as he (usually!) has a pocket to pop the recorder in discreetly. When it comes to speeches, we mic up the people who are giving speeches and leave backup recorders nearby on the table.
Can we have any/all of the RAW unedited footage?
We spend a lot of time going through 300GB+ of footage and ensure only the best bits are used, so this is not a service we provide. We wrote a blog post about it to explain in more detail here.
Do you use additional lighting?
No, we try and use natural light all the way! If it’s dark while you’re dancing we might use a small video light, but we’ve never had to use it.
How long will you be filming on the day?
Either between 8-12 hours depending on what coverage you choose for your day.
Can we choose our own music?
Yes! Music makes your wedding film more personal to you so we would love to hear your suggestions. We use a variety of great music websites where we can licence some really beautiful songs. We ask a few weeks prior what songs you would like, so we can start editing straight away!
Do we need a license for music played in a church?
Yes, if you have a church wedding with an organist or would like music recorded. You will need the MCPS-PPL Joint License.
Do you offer any discounts/offers?
No, not usually, but we do have a ‘wish list‘ of weddings we’d love to capture! Let’s have a chat about what we can offer ๐
What happens if you are sick/emergency on the day of the event?
Thankfully, this hasn’t happened! We are part of some great videography emergency groups and can reach out for some help on short notice.
Are you insured?
Yes! We are covered by the wonderful Policy Bee.
